GETTING STARTED

How do I know if I need therapy?

There’s no threshold you have to cross. If something’s been sitting heavy, taking up space, or repeating itself, that’s reason enough to talk to someone.

What happens in the first session?

Mostly listening. Your therapist will ask about what brought you in, a bit of history, and what you’d want to get out of working together — no forms to fill out in the room.

How long until I feel a difference?

Most clients notice a shift in the first 4-6 sessions, though it depends on what you’re working through. We check in on progress regularly, not just at the start.

SESSIONS & SCHEDULING

How often will we meet?

Weekly to start, for most people — it gives the work momentum. Many clients move to biweekly or monthly once things stabilize.

Can I switch therapists if it’s not a fit?

Yes, any time, no explanation needed. Fit matters more than loyalty to a first match — we’ll help you find someone better suited.

What’s your cancellation policy?

24 hours’ notice, no charge. Inside 24 hours, sessions are billed at the full rate except for genuine emergencies.

PAYMENT & INSURANCE

Do you take my insurance?

We’re in-network with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Kaiser Permanente. See the full list on our Rates & Insurance page.

What if I don’t have insurance?

We provide superbills you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement, and we hold sliding-scale spots starting at $60 a session.

Is a sliding scale available?

Yes — a limited number of spots each month, based on income. Ask during your free consult and we’ll be direct about availability.

PRIVACY & SAFETY

Is therapy actually confidential?

Yes, with the standard legal exceptions (risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or abuse of a minor/elder). Your therapist will walk through this in session one.

What happens in a crisis?

Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time, day or night. If you’re in immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest ER.

Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients?

Yes — our clinicians are LGBTQ+ affirming by default, not as a special track. You won’t need to educate your therapist.

Take the first step toward feeling like yourself again.

No commitment. Most people hear back the same day.
